The Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced the first meeting of the permanent ministerial committee responsible for the National Open Government Data Portal, aimed at discussing approved procedures for publishing government data and ensuring its accuracy and quality.

The meeting was chaired by the ministry’s official spokesperson and Director of the Government Media and Communication Department, Dr. Haider Al-Aboudi, where participants reviewed statistical indicators planned for publication on the portal to facilitate public access to government data and enable researchers and entrepreneurs to benefit from it regularly.

Committee members from various ministry departments also discussed ways to enhance transparency, improve digital services, and comply with legal and regulatory standards supporting digital transformation and institutional modernization.

The ministry noted that the National Open Government Data Portal is the first official Iraqi platform providing verified government data published by ministries and public institutions, aiming to support innovation, informed decision-making, and wider access to official information.
